Dr. S.K. Luhadiya, Professor Emeritus at Geetanjali Hospital, was invited to deliver a guest lecture at the 15th National Chest Specialists Conference held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Only two doctors from India were invited for lectures at this prestigious event. Dr. Luhadiya highlighted the NTM (Nontuberculous Mycobacteria) disease, explaining that while it is similar to tuberculosis, its diagnosis and treatment differ, and the treatment duration should be at least one year.
In his second lecture, he discussed the treatment of bronchiectasis, a condition where antibiotics are used repeatedly or for prolonged periods. He emphasized that antibiotics should be administered according to guidelines based on the severity of the disease and the bacteria cultured, to minimize the use of antibiotics and prevent further complications.
