Grand Finale of the National Mime Festival

Jaipur | The two-day National Mime Festival, organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Rainbow Society Jaipur, and IIS University, concluded this evening at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium in Mansarovar. Dedicated to renowned educator, visionary, and Chancellor of IIS University, Dr. Ashok Gupta, the festival featured outstanding mime performances by artists from West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

Famous mime artist from West Bengal, Suvendu Mukhopadhyay, amazed the audience with his impressive angik (body) performances. His first mime, "Illusion," showcased exceptional control over his body. The second, "Love," and the third, featuring a dentist, had the audience laughing uncontrollably. He was joined by Subrata Das in these performances.

Kunal Motling from Thane, Maharashtra, presented his mime, "The Lost Gift," which beautifully depicted the disappearance of childhood enthusiasm in today's fast-paced world and the journey of rediscovering it. Jaipur’s young actor Dyotiman Khandelwal also performed alongside Kunal.

Asif Sher Ali from Jaipur presented "Culture," in which he portrayed the disintegration of ancient culture and the adverse effects of plastic on society, perfectly capturing the theme with his acting.

During the festival, a workshop on mime was conducted in the morning for curious learners and art enthusiasts. The workshop, led by Padma Shri Niranjan Goswami, focused on Indian theatrical techniques and provided hands-on training. The workshop also featured a mime performance, "Dust Free Dustbin," directed by Vilas Janwe, where children and youth demonstrated the importance of cleanliness through humorous acts.

At the festival's closing ceremony, Rainbow Society honored Padma Shri Niranjan Goswami, Dr. Aditi Khandelwal, and Dr. Suman Rathore from IIS University. The event was attended by Abhishek Mudgal, Stage Manager from National School of Drama, and other distinguished guests.
