Kota: The Women's Harassment Committee of Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, organized a special awareness workshop for the university's students, staff, and faculty members on preventing and addressing gender harassment in the workplace. Public Relations Officer Vikram Rathore informed that the workshop focused on discussing the harassment women face at the workplace and the ways to address it.
The keynote speakers, Professor Arun Kumar Sharma and Advocate Mrs. Kalpana Sharma, provided legal insights related to women's safety at the workplace. On this occasion, the event was attended by Coordinator Professor Manisha Vyas, Dr. Harish Sharma, Dr. Lata Gidwani, and Dr. Sunita Chahar.
In his message, Vice Chancellor Professor S.K. Singh emphasized the significant role of educational institutions in addressing sexual harassment and related issues. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that women feel safe at their workplaces, as it is a key indicator of a healthy society, ensuring women's dignity, basic human rights, efficiency, safety, and overall empowerment.
Dean of Faculty Affairs, Professor Dinesh Bidla, in his address, stated that women have the freedom to live in society with respect, dignity, and rights, and the right to a safe working environment is a fundamental right.
Professor Manisha Vyas, Chairperson of the Women's Harassment Committee, mentioned that it is our collective responsibility to provide a completely safe environment for women at the workplace, so they can work comfortably. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act reaffirms women's fundamental right to equality. Understanding the causes of sexual harassment at the workplace is a crucial step toward preventing it. Today, there is no field where women are not making progress.
