Mumbai: Reliance Foundation has selected 5,000 undergraduate students from across India for its prestigious undergraduate scholarship program. The list was released on the occasion of Dhirubhai Ambani's 92nd birth anniversary. Under the 2024-25 scholarship program, each student will receive financial aid of up to ₹2 lakh. Over 1 lakh undergraduate students applied for the scholarship, out of which approximately 70% of the selected students belong to families with an annual income of less than ₹2.5 lakh.
The scope of the scholarship is extensive, with students from 29 states and 540 districts being selected. The 5,000 recipients are from nearly 1,300 educational institutions. States with the highest number of scholarship recipients include Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra. Rajasthan also performed well, with 216 students being awarded the scholarship.
Expressing joy over receiving over 1 lakh applications, a Reliance Foundation spokesperson said, “The selected students are among the brightest in the country. Education is the key to the future, and we are proud to support these students on their academic journey. Through the prestigious Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship, our aim is to empower students to reach their full potential and contribute to India's development."

It is worth noting that in December 2022, on the 90th birth anniversary of Reliance’s Founder-Chairman Dhirubhai Ambani, Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani announced the goal of awarding 50,000 scholarships over the next 10 years. Since then, 5,100 scholarships have been awarded annually, making this the largest private scholarship program in India.
