Union Minister of Power Shri Manohar Lal Launches UrjaVEER Movement in Andhra Pradesh

Udaipur : Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, is pleased to announce the launch of the UrjaVEER(Urja Volunteers Leading Energy Efficiency Revolution)movement, a visionary initiative by EESL which empowers grassroots level citizens (primarily those working at community level e.g. Self-Help Groups, State Livelihood Missions etc.) to participate in the promotion of energy-efficient appliances through EESLmart.in by creating added income opportunities for participants, fostering both awareness and adoption of energy efficiency across India. This movement aligns with global sustainability goals, including G20 and COP28 targets, focusing on doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvements to combat climate change.

The movement has been recently launched for the State of Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada (A.P.) by Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu. Following its introduction in Andhra Pradesh, EESL plans to expand the UrjaVEER movementin various states i.e.  Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and others.

The UrjaVEER movement delivers a wide range of benefits, extending beyond individual financial gains. Participants gain valuable skills and knowledge about energy-efficient technologies, empowering them to make informed decisions and advocate effectively within their communities. Environmentally, the movement reduces energy consumption, cuts greenhouse gas emissions, Moreover, households adopting energy-efficient appliances enjoy noticeable savings on electricity bills, enhancing their overall quality of life.
