Udaipur: Vedanta Limited’s companies, Hindustan Zinc and Cairn Oil & Gas, have played a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of Rajasthan and India. The Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF) has released its annual Social Impact Report titled "Nurturing, Transforming, Leading: India's Growth Story." In FY 2023-24, the foundation invested ₹437 crore, positively impacting over 1.73 crore lives.
Major Achievements
Education and Women Empowerment:
Under the Nand Ghar initiative, 6,044 modern Anganwadi centers have been established across 14 states, with 2,846 centers in Rajasthan. These centers provide essential services like early childhood education, nutrition, healthcare, and skill development to 2,38,161 children and 1,78,620 women.
Wildlife Conservation:
The Animal Care Organization (TAKO) has cared for over 1.48 lakh animals. It contributed to wildlife preservation by providing patrol vehicles to Ranthambore National Park and setting up anti-poaching camps and surveillance vehicles in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve.
Healthcare Services:
Cairn’s Mobile Health Van Project reached 214 remote villages in Rajasthan and Gujarat, delivering essential healthcare services.
Safe Drinking Water Access:
The Jeevan Amrit Project installed 124 RO plants in Barmer, reducing the burden on women to fetch water and providing nearly 70 lakh liters of safe drinking water, benefiting 11,429 families.
Women Entrepreneurship:
Hindustan Zinc’s Sakhi Initiative empowered rural women through self-help groups (SHGs), associations, and micro-enterprises, generating over ₹1.5 crore in revenue through FMCG and textile sales.
Contribution to Sports and Cultural Preservation
The Zinc Football Academy in Udaipur achieved an Elite 3-Star Rating from the All-India Football Federation, ranking it among India’s top academies. Its star player, Mohammed Kaif, became the first Rajasthani footballer in 40 years to captain India at the SAFF U-16 Championship.
Campaigns like #RunForZeroHunger and the Vedanta Pink City Half Marathon in Jaipur fostered community awareness and participation.
