Banswara: On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, Dev Diwali was celebrated at the ISKCON Center in Subhash Nagar, Professor Colony, Banswara, under the guidance of Abhay Gaurang Das Prabhu. The event included the traditional ritual of Deep Daan (donating lamps) at various temples across the city.
Abhay Gaurang Das Prabhu explained the significance of Dev Diwali, stating that it is believed that on Kartik Purnima, the deities descend to Earth and celebrate Diwali on the banks of the Ganges. Hence, lighting lamps on this day is a time-honored tradition. He emphasized that donating lamps is considered highly auspicious on this day.
While the most stunning scenes of Dev Diwali can be seen in Varanasi, not everyone can visit the Ganga ghats. Therefore, the tradition allows people to light lamps in local temples, at home, or near sacred places such as peepal, tulsi, and shami trees to earn the spiritual merit of Deep Daan.
On this occasion, the recitation of Damodar Ashtakshari was led by Lord Varun Prabhu, followed by the application of kumkum, kesar, ashtagandh (scented substances) to the Tulsi plant and Lord Yogeshwar Krishna. The program also featured devotional singing, bhajans, and kirtans.
Several devotees, including Chandra Kanta, Neeraj Pathak, Shabuni, Deepika, Vibha, Archana, Pallavi, Kripali Bhatt, Himani Pathak, Rachna Vyasa, Kunj Bihari, Manav, Nimesh, Raunak, Manas, and Ajay, participated in the Deep Daan ceremony and devotional singing. The event concluded with prayers for peace and spiritual growth.
