BN College of Pharmacy Celebrates Research Breakthrough

Udaipur, Priyanka Chauhan, a doctoral candidate at BN College of Pharmacy, Udaipur, has successfully defended her PhD thesis, marking a significant milestone in her academic journey. Under the mentorship of Dr. Chetan Singh Chauhan, Professor of Pharmaceutics, Chauhan delved into the formulation and optimization of PLGA encapsulated metformin hydrochloride microspheres.

Her research has led to the development of a novel drug delivery system that offers a promising solution for the management of diabetes. By encapsulating metformin hydrochloride within PLGA microspheres, Chauhan has created a sustained-release formulation that can maintain stable blood sugar levels over an extended period. This innovation not only reduces the frequency of medication dosing but also holds the potential to alleviate complications associated with diabetes, including heart disease, kidney problems, and eye disorders.

Chauhan's research has gained recognition within the scientific community, with her findings presented and published at both national and international conferences. Her work has the potential to significantly improve the lives of millions of people living with diabetes.

Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore, the university's public relations officer, highlighted the significance of this research breakthrough, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize diabetes treatment.

Key points:

Innovative drug delivery system: The development of PLGA encapsulated metformin hydrochloride microspheres.

Improved diabetes management: Sustained-release formulation for better blood sugar control.

Reduced medication frequency: Less frequent dosing for patients.

Alleviation of complications: Potential to reduce the risk of heart, kidney, and eye problems.

Recognition in the scientific community: Presentation and publication of research findings at national and international conferences.

This achievement underscores the commitment of BN College of Pharmacy to conducting cutting-edge research and contributing to advancements in healthcare.
