Conference on Emerging Trends in Chemical Sciences for Sustainable Development organized

 

**Udaipur, Bhupal Nobles University and Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth jointly organized a two-day international conference on "Emerging Trends in Chemical Sciences for Sustainable Development." The conference, focused on a highly relevant and timely topic, concluded with notable insights and discussions.

 


**Keynote Address Highlights:**  
Dr. Sunita Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, emphasized the harmful effects of excessive use of chemicals such as nano-chemicals, nano-agricultural products, and nano-pesticides. She highlighted the need for sustainable practices to preserve food products without causing environmental damage.

**Sustainable Development and Research Focus:**  
Professor B.L. Chaudhary, former Vice-Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, discussed the importance of resource utilization that meets present needs without compromising future generations. He stressed the importance of the Indian cultural philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) in this context. Professor Shiv Singh Singh Sarangdevot, the chief patron of the conference, spoke about the impact of global warming and the significant role of chemicals in production processes. He advocated for the development of new resources to meet the needs of a growing population.

**National Education Policy 2020:**  
Professor Sarangdevot also highlighted the emphasis on research in the National Education Policy 2020, which he believes will accelerate the process of sustainable development.

**Lifetime Achievement Awards:**  
The conference honored former chemists with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their exceptional contributions to the field of chemistry. The awardees included Professor S.C. Ameta, Professor Rameshwar Ameta, Professor S.S. Dulawat, Professor S.L. Mehta, Professor Rekha Dashora, Professor Neeru Rathore, Professor Sophia Hussain, Professor Anujya Porwal, and Professor Shahnawaz Khan. They were felicitated with traditional honors including shawls, fruits, certificates, and mementos.

**Paper and Poster Presentations:**  
The conference featured both online and offline paper presentations and poster presentations. Praveen Paliwal secured the first position in offline paper presentations, followed by Tabassum Bano in second place and Gargi Paliwal in third. In the online poster presentations, Shakira TD won first place, Anjali Sharma secured second, and Vaishali Rathore came in third.

**Conference Coordination and Organization:**  
The event was coordinated by Dr. Praveena Rathore, Dr. Tanvi Agarwal, and Dr. Rama Mehta. Dr. Narendra Singh Chundawat, the organizing secretary and head of the Chemistry Department at Bhupal Nobles University, presented the conference report. Conference convener members Dr. Girdharpal Singh and Dr. Mangalshree Dulawat provided detailed information about the event's proceedings.

**Acknowledgments and Participation:**  
Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh Jhala, President of Old Boys Association Bhanu Pratap Singh Solanki, Nawal Singh Jurd, Dr. Yuvraj Singh Bemla, along with members of Vidya Pracharini Executive Committee, deans, associate deans, and faculty staff, were present at the event.
