Dr. Anil Mehta, Principal of Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic, has been included in a special delegation of experts and institutions by the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change to attend the United Nations Climate Summit (COP 29). The summit will take place from 11th November to 22nd November in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Dr. Mehta, a long-time advocate for environmental issues such as trees, mountains, water, and overall environmental protection, will join a group of seven leading experts working on environmental issues at the grassroots level. Along with Dr. Mehta, 22 young individuals from major Indian institutions, including Harvard, Yale, and Columbia University, will participate in the summit.
Dr. Mehta and the team will focus on promoting harit dialogue and the Mission LIFE (Lifestyle for the Environment), aiming to raise global awareness about environmentally sustainable lifestyles and conservation activities. They will also emphasize India's environmental philosophy, values, and actions.
Notably, Dr. Mehta recently presented the harit discourse on climate change solutions at a national seminar held in Bhopal by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. This seminar was focused on "Global Efforts for Climate Change: Contribution of States in India's Commitment." The green discourse, known as *HOLISTIC ACTION FOR REVITALIZATION OF INDIGENOUS TRADITIONS* (HAIR), highlights the importance of local culture, traditions, and lifestyles for environmental sustainability. This will be a key point of discussion at the upcoming climate summit.
