Prof. Karunesh Saxena, the Vice-Chancellor of Sangam University, highlighted the urgent need for societal involvement to address the deteriorating quality of education. According to him, the collective responsibility of society, the government, and educators is vital to achieving the desired outcomes in education. In a recent special meeting with Dr. Munesh Arora, Prof. Saxena shared his insights on the university’s progress in enhancing education quality, placement opportunities, and overall student development.
Sangam University has made remarkable strides in improving its educational standards and placement opportunities. Recently, the university received a substantial grant of ₹5.5 lakh from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). This funding will be used to organize a national-level workshop aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of social sciences. Additionally, the university has been awarded an A+ grade for its exceptional performance, which led to it being made a partner in the MTC (Management Training and Certification) program. This partnership will be beneficial not only for the university but also for the educators in the surrounding region, providing them with an opportunity to enhance their skills and teaching methods.
Sangam University has also made notable progress in enhancing placement opportunities for its students. To ensure students are better prepared for the job market, the university established the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development. This center offers mock interviews, group discussions, and pre-placement training to help students hone their skills and increase their employability. Thanks to these efforts, over 50% of students have already secured placements this year, with many even securing direct jobs rather than the usual internships. This reflects the growing trust of employers in the university’s curriculum and the preparedness of its students for the professional world.
In response to the increasing demand in the healthcare sector, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic, Sangam University has introduced new courses in fields such as BSc Nursing, BSc Neonatology, and Physiotherapy. To accommodate these new programs, the university has established the School of Applied Health Sciences. These new courses are designed to meet the growing need for skilled healthcare professionals and provide students with specialized education that will enable them to thrive in the healthcare industry. Furthermore, Sangam University is the first Indian university to be recognized by the Government of Nepal, making it an attractive option for students from Nepal who wish to pursue higher education in India.
Sangam Group’s founder chairman, Shri Rampal Soni, is deeply committed to providing educational opportunities to economically disadvantaged students. The university has introduced a robust scholarship program, distributing over ₹1 crore annually to support students from weaker sections of society. This initiative enables students from underprivileged backgrounds to receive high-quality education and build better futures, thereby contributing to the upliftment of society.
In addition to academics, Sangam University places a strong emphasis on the holistic development of its students. The university has been actively promoting sports, with cricket being a significant focus under the leadership of Anurag Soni. The Sangam Premier League, an annual cricket tournament, was successfully held last year, with participation from both students and staff, fostering a spirit of teamwork and community within the university. This initiative is part of the university’s broader commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only academically but also in extra-curricular activities.
Prof. Saxena also emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in the examination systems, particularly within the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). He suggested the adoption of a system similar to that of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to ensure a high standard of fairness and rigor in the examination processes. Additionally, the university has taken strict measures to improve student attendance, including monitoring systems and incentivizing regular class participation. As a result, there has been a noticeable increase in student attendance, contributing to a more engaging and dynamic learning environment.
Sangam University understands that education should not be confined to the classroom. To provide students with practical experience and exposure to the real world, the university organizes study tours and industry visits. Recently, a group of students had the opportunity to visit the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai. This experience allowed them to gain firsthand insights into the functioning of the financial markets and understand the practical applications of their academic knowledge in real-world business environments.
Sangam University continues to make significant progress in all areas, from academic excellence to student development and industry readiness. With its commitment to providing quality education, facilitating effective placements, and promoting overall student development, the university is well-positioned to contribute to the growth of the educational landscape. The university’s efforts in these areas are not only enhancing the lives of its students but also making a positive impact on the broader community by preparing the next generation of leaders and professionals.
