SPSU’s Rain Water Harvesting Project’s Inauguration by Waterman Dr. Rajendra Singh

The Rain Water Harvesting Project of Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur would be inaugurated on January 25, 2025 by Dr. Rajendra Singh, Waterman of India along with the SPSU visionaries Prof. (Dr.) Prithvi Yadav, Vice Chancellor, SPSU and Lt. Col. Neeraj Kumar, Campus Director. Dr. Ram Boojh, an eminent environmentalist and former Environment Advisor to UNESCO, will also grace the event. Through this system, an impressive 4,360,000 gallons of rainwater will be harvested annually, significantly contributing to the replenishment of groundwater levels within the university campus and its surrounding areas. This initiative not only ensures sustainable water management but also strengthens the region’s ecological balance, fostering a healthier and more resilient environment for future generations. The project aims to reduce the over-exploitation of natural fresh underground water resources, promote groundwater recharge by allowing excess rainwater to percolate into the soil and replenish aquifers, and support sustainable water management practices. Additionally, it shall serve as a live educational model, raising awareness among students and the campus community about the importance of water conservation, sustainability, and innovative eco-friendly practices. The project is coordinated by Dr. Tulika Chakrabarti.
