A state-level workshop titled "Rejuvenate – Stress to Distress" was organized by the Department of Psychiatry at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and Tirupati College of Nursing, under Pacific Medical University, Udaipur. The workshop aimed to enhance mental health awareness, stress management, self-awareness, and academic performance among nursing students and staff.
The inauguration was graced by Dr. M.M. Mangal (President, PMU), Dr. Ummed Singh Parihar (Principal, PMCH), Dr. Vijaya Ajmera (Dean, Geetanjali School of Nursing), Dr. K.C. Yadav (Dean, Tirupati College of Nursing), and Dr. Suresh Mehta (HOD, Psychiatry). The lamp lighting ceremony was conducted in the presence of all dignitaries. Dr. Sanjay Nagda, Organizing Secretary, shared insights about the workshop's objectives.
Chairman Rahul Agrawal extended best wishes and highlighted the importance of emotional strength in the nursing profession. CEO Sharad Kothari emphasized the role of such workshops in empowering nurses mentally.
Dr. M.M. Mangal termed stress as an "invisible enemy" and stressed the importance of practical stress management, especially in healthcare professions. Dr. K.C. Yadav addressed rising anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues among students, leading to harmful addictions and mental health challenges.
The workshop featured multiple sessions:
ЁЯФ╣ Dr. Amar Yadav discussed workplace pressure, shift duties, emotional burnout, and societal expectations as major stressors.
ЁЯФ╣ Dr. Suresh Mehta explained stress-induced conditions like hypertension, depression, anxiety, and insomnia, recommending mindfulness and regular exercise.
ЁЯФ╣ Dr. Vijaya Ajmera elaborated on the link between academic performance and stress, urging students to practice time management and positive thinking.
ЁЯФ╣ Dr. Deepak Salvi promoted yoga, meditation, journaling, and healthy diets as stress-relieving practices.
ЁЯФ╣ Dr. Satish Awasthi emphasized self-care and mental resilience for nursing professionals.
The Rajasthan Nursing Council awarded 5 credit hours for the workshop. Over 500 participants attended. The session was smoothly conducted by Associate Professor Chetna Paliwal.
