Students of Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences today learned how various food items are prepared using a solar cooker from Dr. Manju Jain, a solar energy expert. Most of the students are from Gujarat, and Dr. Jain thoroughly explained the process of making "khman" (a traditional snack) using the solar cooker. She emphasized that for future doctors, especially working women, solar cookers could prove to be a valuable asset in managing time and energy efficiently.
In addition, Dr. PC Jain, a water conservation expert, demonstrated how rainwater harvested from the rooftop can be redirected into a household tubewell or hand pump. He explained the importance of not letting rainwater flow into drains, but instead channeling it into the ground to recharge groundwater levels, ensuring that future generations do not face water scarcity.
The event was attended by Dr. Ram Prakash Saini, Senior Demonstrator of Anatomy, and first-year MBBS students Vedika, Ziya, Harshita, Kripa, Nishi, Japesh, Aryan, and Hasnen.
