MPUAT's Agriculture Science Centre, Bhilwara Wins Best KVK Award

Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, in collaboration with the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur, has nominated the Agriculture Science Centre (KVK) Bhilwara for the prestigious Best KVK Award in the field of agricultural innovation. The award recognizes outstanding work in technology transfer to the farming community. This recognition will be presented at the 5th International Agricultural Conference on "NUTRIENT-2025," which will be held on February 20-21, 2025, at the Bhai Gurdas Group of Institutions, Sangrur, Punjab, affiliated with I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University.

The Agriculture Science Centre in Bhilwara is recognized as a leading ISO 9001:2015 certified institution. It features various demonstration units, including Sirohi goats, Pratapdhani poultry, dairy farming, chick rearing, vermicomposting, natural farming units, nurseries, Napier grass, rainwater harvesting, biogas, fish farming, low-cost hydroponic fodder production, and orchards for Amla, Guava, and Lemon. Through these units, the centre has fostered integrated agricultural systems, creating self-employment opportunities and strengthening livelihoods, reducing rural-to-urban migration.

KVK Bhilwara has also successfully guided and supported the operation of two Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs): Bhilwara Gotri Pride Farmer Producer Company Ltd. and Mev Kisan Bazaar FPO. These FPOs have enhanced crop production and marketing, leading to increased income for farmers.

In addition, KVK Bhilwara has been involved in various national projects such as the National Climate Resilient Agriculture Innovation (NICRA), Natural Farming, National Food Security Mission for Pulses and Oilseeds, and others that support economic upliftment, especially of women farmers, rural youth, and tribal communities. The centre regularly organizes farmer fairs, farmer-scientist dialogues, awareness programs, field demonstrations, and training sessions to facilitate the transfer of successful agricultural technologies.

For its outstanding contributions, the Agriculture Science Centre in Bhilwara has been honored with the Best KVK Award.
