Udaipur, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, organized a "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" program at the adopted village of Heenta, Bhinder Panchayat Samiti, under the Honorable Governor's Smart Village Initiative.
Dr. R.L. Soni, Director of the Directorate of Extension Education and the program's chief guest, highlighted that the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" campaign was launched by the Prime Minister on January 22, 2015, in Panipat, Haryana. He explained that this initiative would help curb the declining child sex ratio and address issues related to women’s empowerment. It focuses on improving education, financial security, and eradicating harmful practices against girls through community participation.
Dr. Soni emphasized that the program aims to eliminate gender discrimination and promote a change in societal attitudes toward girls. Key objectives include addressing the declining child sex ratio, empowering women, and ensuring the safety and development of girls. Additionally, the program encourages education and social participation for girls.
Dr. R.S. Rathore, Coordinator of the Smart Village initiative, informed that the students of Government Higher Secondary School in Heenta were made aware of this campaign. He also mentioned the various incentives provided by the state government to promote higher education among girls. A rally was organized by 55 girl students, who raised slogans supporting the campaign.
The school's principal, Shyam Sunder Salvi, highlighted the students' growing interest in education and sports. On this occasion, the College of Dairy and Food Technology conducted a training session on "Safety and Quality in Food Processing." Dr. Arun Kumar Goyal stated that the program, organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), focused on teaching the preparation of value-added food products. A total of 52 women farmers participated in this training.
Additionally, Dr. Mani Ram, Senior Scientist and In-charge of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Vallabhnagar, distributed agricultural calendars to all participants. These calendars provided monthly agricultural insights and guidelines to aid farmers in planning their activities effectively.
