MPUAT Leads in Innovation, Patents, and Technology Commercialization: Dr. Karnataka

Udaipur,  Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, has established itself as a pioneer among Rajasthan's agricultural universities, excelling in innovations like solar energy utilization, patents, ISO-certified labs and colleges, KVK millet gardens, crop cafeterias, and more, according to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka.

Speaking at an event in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, Dr. Karnataka highlighted MPUAT’s initiatives that distinguish it as a leader in agricultural research and innovation. During the program, MPUAT signed an MoU with Uttarakhand Open University to foster collaboration in research and innovations, benefiting students of both institutions through knowledge exchange and new experiments.

Dr. Karnataka noted that MPUAT secured 25 patents in 2024, taking its total to 54. He emphasized the university's groundbreaking work in solar energy, saving over ₹1 crore annually in electricity costs through a 1.1 MW on-grid solar plant, the largest among Rajasthan's universities. Additionally, MPUAT’s focus on millet production and ISO certifications earned it the prestigious Governor’s Award.

He stressed the need to address the excessive use of pesticides and mitigate the adverse effects of the Green Revolution. Dr. Karnataka also praised Uttarakhand Open University for its high-quality ICT initiatives and learning material, which will benefit MPUAT students.

Uttarakhand Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof. O.P.S. Negi presented a detailed overview of the university’s achievements, while former VC Prof. Hoshiar Singh Dhami emphasized that such collaborations provide students with broader learning horizons and increased employment opportunities.

Key speakers included MPUAT professors Manjari Agrawal, Diger Singh Farswan, Kalpana Lakhera Patni, and others, with gratitude extended by Director of Science Prof. P.D. Pant and Registrar Khemraj Bhatt.
