Sports Competitions Organized on Makar Sankranti

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, sports competitions were organized by the Faculty of Education at Mohanlal Sukhadia University. The event was graced by Prof. Pratibha Pandey, Chairperson of the Faculty of Education, along with Dr. Alpana Singh, Head of the Department of Education, and Head of the History Department. The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the idol of Goddess Saraswati. Dr. Alpana Singh welcomed the guests.

Students from the Integrated Course (First, Second, and Third Years) and B.Ed. First Year actively participated in the competitions. Different types of games were organized for each class, with enthusiastic participation from all students. Guests administered an oath to the participants. Prof. Pandey emphasized the significance of such events in the modern era, stating that while people are now more engaged in mobile phones and social media, traditional sports foster teamwork and harmony.

Dr. Alpana Singh highlighted the importance of such activities for students, saying that these competitions boost confidence and capability. The event also marked the significance of Makar Sankranti as a day when the Sun transitions from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere, coinciding with various regional games.

The competitions included events such as boat race, spoon-and-marble race, balloon race, kho-kho, dodgeball, three-legged race, needle-thread race, and book balance race. Faculty members in charge of the games included Dr. Monika Jaroli, Dr. Kiran Ranawat, Dr. Nisha Singhvi, Dr. Munmun Sharma, Dr. Meena Poordia, Dr. Anju Vyas, Dr. Kumud Purohit, Dr. Tamanna Soni, Dr. Swati Lodha, Dr. Sapna Mavatwal, Dr. Deepa Meena, Dr. Anupa Sharma, Dr. Chanchal Nagda, Dr. Tina Ojha, and Dr. Kirti Jain.

The event was attended by Dr. Himanshu Bhatt, Madan Dangi, Lavina Akavat, Aruna Paliwal, Kailash Gameti, Anita, and Hemlata, among others. The faculty members played an active role in ensuring the success of the event. Students’ enthusiasm and participation were the key highlights. The event was co-hosted by Harshita Talreja and Nehal, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Nisha Sharma.
