The 68th National Cricket Tournament for schoolgirls in the 19-year age category will be hosted in Udaipur in January 2025 under the auspices of Mahatma Gandhi Senior Secondary School, Sundarwas. A preliminary meeting for the event was held today at the organizing school to discuss preparations.
The competition, which will be conducted under the Education Department, will see cricket teams of schoolgirls from across the country participating. Senior Physical Education Teacher at the school, Vijay Singh Rawat, mentioned that students from almost every state will take part in this prestigious national event.
The Principal of the school, Dr. Ashutosh Tuli, informed that the first preparatory meeting for the tournament was organized today (Thursday) at the school. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Lokesh Bharti, District Education Officer (Secondary), and addressed several key aspects of the event, including accommodation, cricket grounds, transportation, food arrangements, medical facilities, liaising with sponsors (Bhama Shah), and the creation of a souvenir for the event.
Dr. Lokesh Bharti further shared that the District Collector of Udaipur will serve as the President of this national-level event. Other key attendees at the meeting included District Education Officer (Primary) Nonihal Singh, Additional District Education Officer Murli Dhar Chobisa, Deputy District Education Officer for Sports Lakshman Lal Salvi, core committee members Deepak Goud, Renu Sharma, Sanjay Badala, and Chetan Paneri.
Additionally, District Sports Officer Mahesh Paliwal and Chief Block Education Officer Girwa Kunjbihari Bhardwaj were also present. Various committees for the cricket event will be led by Dileep Singh Shaktawat, Vinod Gadiya, and Jai Prakash Bhavsar as Physical Education Teachers, and Dr. Ashutosh Dadhich, Shankar Lal Salvi, Vice Principal Preeti Rathore, Chirag Ameta, Sanjay Pandya, Hukmichand Menaria, and Gopal Lohar as representatives.
