Udaipur has once again demonstrated peace and harmony. Following the death of Devaraj, a student injured in a school-related altercation, there was visible public outrage. However, the residents displayed patience and maintained law and order in the city. Thanks to the effective measures taken by the administration and police, no untoward incidents occurred.
Devaraj’s last rites were conducted with tight security on Tuesday. Senior officials including Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Bhatt, IG Ajaypal Lamba, District Collector Arvind Poswal, and SP Yogesh Goyal were present to oversee the situation.
Devaraj succumbed to his injuries at MB Hospital on Monday afternoon. Authorities and public representatives counseled the family and the public. The deceased's body was handed over to the family on Tuesday morning. The family took the body to their residence, where a large number of people gathered to pay their respects. The final procession was carried out under strict security and reached the Mukti Dham in Ashok Nagar. The cremation was conducted as per rituals. Officials including IG Ajaypal Lamba, SP Yogesh Goyal, Additional District Collector (Administration) Deependra Singh Rathore, ADM (Administration) Rajeev Dwivedi, UDA OSD Jitendra Soni, SDM Gogunda Naresh Soni, Assistant Collector Rameshchandra Sirvi, Mavli SDM Mansukh Damor, and Ration Officer Gitesh Shri Malviya were present, along with MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, City MLA Tarachand Jain, Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena, Deputy Mayor Paras Singvi, and social workers Pramod Samar, Ravindra Shrimali, and Chandragupt Singh Chouhan.
Schools and colleges, which had been closed as a precautionary measure, will reopen on Wednesday as per the order issued by the District Collector.
