Udaipur: The Late Bherulal Surajdevi Charitable Trust has set a remarkable record by distributing over 25,000 clothing items to needy women, men, and children outside the outpatient department of Maharana Bhupal Public Hospital over nine days.
Trustees Anjula and D.P. Dhakad shared that the distribution, conducted in memory of their mother, the late Surajdevi Dhakad, and father, the late Bherulal Dhakad, was carried out from December 19 to 21 and January 9 to 14. Every day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., they personally handed out clothes to 5,000 underprivileged families.
The Maharana Bhupal Hospital sees thousands of patients from nearby villages seeking treatment. Recognizing the plight of the poor and sick during the biting cold, this massive clothing distribution initiative included coats, jackets, sweaters, t-shirts, pants, shirts, and jeans for men, women, and children.
Given the extreme cold and ongoing cold wave, the initiative addressed the urgent need for warm clothing among the underprivileged. Each family was allowed to choose five items of clothing free of cost. The trust has also announced plans to organize similar campaigns in the future to ease the suffering of those in need.
