Abhishek Srivastava Conferred with Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya National Journalism Gem Award

Udaipur,  Senior journalist and Editor of Rajasthan Patrika, Abhishek Srivastava, was conferred with the prestigious Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya National Journalism Gem Award at a grand ceremony organized by Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University. The event took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat auditorium in Pratapnagar.


The ceremony began with floral tribute to Maa Saraswati and ceremonial lamp lighting by chief guest Prof. Sunita Mishra, Vice Chancellor of Sukhadia University; Chancellor Bhanwar Lal Gurjar; Vidyapeeth Vice Chancellor Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot; Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali; and the award recipient himself.

Abhishek Srivastava was honored for his exceptional contribution to journalism, particularly for raising awareness on lake conservation and mountain preservation in Udaipur through his powerful writings. He was felicitated with a turban, shawl, citation, and memento.


In his address, Prof. Sarangdevot praised the courage of journalists, calling the pen both a strength and a responsibility in a democracy. Prof. Sunita Mishra emphasized aligning educational curricula with the New Education Policy, noting that journalism also plays a crucial role in building public awareness.

Accepting the award, Srivastava remarked, “Receiving an award is easy, but protecting its dignity is a greater responsibility.” He highlighted the role of print media in upholding truth, sharing how Rajasthan Patrika’s campaign on Aravalli conservation led to judicial intervention and policy changes.

Chancellor Gurjar commended Srivastava’s impactful work, stating that his fearless journalism has made a historical mark.

The event was attended by deans, directors, and faculty members of the university. Dr. Harish Chaubisa conducted the proceedings, and a vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Tarun Shrimali.
