Udaipur, Under the aegis of the Bharatiya Samajotsav Samiti, the grand three-day festivities to welcome Vikram Samvat 2082 commenced on Friday. The celebrations began with the auspicious sounds of conch shells and traditional musical instruments at sacred sites in the morning, followed by a talent showcase at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in the evening.
Dr. Paramveer Singh Dulawat, the convener of the Bharatiya Nav Varsh Samajotsav Samiti, informed that the inaugural conch sounds and musical performances took place at 7:30 AM on Friday. The event was held at prominent temples across the city, including Bohra Ganesh Ji Temple, Jagdish Temple, Gurudwara Sachkhand Darbar Sikh Colony, Ramdev Temple Thakkarbapa Colony, Jain Temple Sector-4, and Kheda Devi Temple in Eklavya Colony.
In the evening, the talent showcase mesmerized the audience with various cultural performances. The event commenced with a Ganesh Vandana, followed by a symbolic enactment of Gavari, a traditional tribal ritual dedicated to Goddess Gauri by the Mewar tribal community.
The keynote speaker, Dhanraj, highlighted the significance of talent exposure, emphasizing that such platforms provide local artists with recognition and opportunities for growth. He encouraged larger-scale events to promote regional talent. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Bharat Bhushan Ojha.
The evening witnessed a unique blend of valor and devotion. The Talwar Raas (sword dance) and Bhagwa Dhwaj Skating (saffron flag skating) thrilled the spectators, while the Maa Kali Natya (theatrical presentation) evoked a spiritual experience. Poet Prem Dadhichi's valiant poetry infused the atmosphere with enthusiasm, and Chelsea Didi's mesmerizing Ghoomar dance left the audience spellbound. The artists of the Martial Arts Academy showcased ancient combat techniques, leaving the audience in awe. The event was seamlessly anchored by Kavita Joshi and Yudhishthir. The program saw active participation from intellectuals, dignitaries, and women from the community.
Grand Bhagwa Youth Vehicle Rally on March 29
As part of the New Year festivities, a massive Bhagwa Youth Vehicle Rally is scheduled for March 29 (Saturday) at 3 PM. The rally will commence from Fateh School and traverse through Surajpole, Hathipole, Chetak Circle, Lok Kala Mandal, Meera Girls College, Court Chauraha, Shastri Circle, Shaktinagar, and culminate at Town Hall. The event will be graced by the presence of Achyutanand Maharaj from Beneshwar Dham. Participants will don saffron turbans and white attire. Additionally, schools and colleges across the city have been encouraged to organize Prabhat Pheris (morning processions) to mark the occasion.
Grand Procession and Bhajan Sandhya on March 30
On March 30 (Sunday), a grand procession will be organized, commencing at 3 PM from Gandhi Ground and passing through Hathipole, Delhigate, Bapu Bazaar, Surajpole, and concluding at the Nagar Nigam premises. Women carrying sacred Kalash (auspicious pots) will chant traditional hymns throughout the procession. The parade will feature tableaus, akhadas, religious flags, drums, and various cultural performances.
Following the procession, at 7 PM, a magnificent Bhajan Sandhya will take place at the Nagar Nigam premises, where renowned devotional singer Prakash Mali will perform. The event will be graced by Sudarshanacharya Maharaj of Gopal Purushottam Ashram, Badisadri, and Gulabdas Maharaj of Mankadadev Dham, Jhadol.
