Udaipur: In a major relief for passengers traveling between Rajasthan and Gujarat, the Bandra Terminus-Udaipur City Superfast Express (22901/22902) will now operate daily instead of three times a week, with a revised route via Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Mavli, and Chittorgarh. This decision was made following the request of MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, after which Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw issued directives to the railway directorate.
Major Benefits for Passengers
MP Mannalal Rawat had urged the Railway Minister to provide a direct and faster rail service for passengers traveling to Gujarat and Maharashtra. With this route modification, passengers will save time, and travel will become more convenient.
Other Key Demands of the MP
The Railway Minister has also ordered an inquiry into MP Rawat’s other requests, including:
✔ New Train Proposal: A new train from Dadar (West) Mumbai to Udaipur via Chittorgarh to benefit Rajasthanis living in Mumbai.
✔ Extension of Gujarat Mail (12901): Proposal to extend the train from Ahmedabad to Udaipur and Chittorgarh, as it remains idle at Ahmedabad station for over 17 hours.
✔ Extension of Lok Shakti Express (22927): Suggestion to extend it from Ahmedabad to Udaipur and Chittorgarh, as it is stationed at Ahmedabad for over 16 hours.
✔ Additional Coaches in Udaipur-Asarwa Train (20987/20988): Request to add general, sleeper, and AC 3-tier coaches due to high passenger demand.
✔ Expansion of Udaipur-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Train: Proposal to extend its service up to Surat.
A Significant Step for Udaipur’s Rail Connectivity
This development will greatly benefit passengers traveling between Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The initiative led by MP Mannalal Rawat is strengthening Udaipur’s railway network. The Railway Minister is also reviewing other proposals, which could lead to further improvements in the near future.
