Om Nagar Honored with Mayad Bhasha Seva Samman in Jodhpur

 

Kota, April 2: Young Hindi-Rajasthani poet and writer Om Nagar from Kota has been honored with the Mayad Bhasha Seva Samman 2025 for his outstanding contribution to the Rajasthani language. The award was presented by Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, and Maharaja Man Singh Pustak Prakash Research Center, Mehrangarh. The felicitation took place during the ‘Ujaas Utsav’ festival at the university’s Brihaspati Bhavan, marking the 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee Year) of the Rajasthani Department on the occasion of Rajasthan Day.

The ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, with renowned Rajasthani poet and playwright Dr. Arjundev Charan as the chief guest.

Dr. Gajesingh Rajpurohit, Head of the Rajasthani Department, shared that ten distinguished writers contributing to Rajasthani language and literature were honored at the event. He further mentioned that Om Nagar’s significant book ‘Rajasthani Lockdown Diary - Madai’ was also released by the guests. This book, in diary format, vividly captures the reality of the pandemic era while portraying a determined resolve to preserve humanity. It stands out as a unique contribution to Rajasthani literature, depicting hope and the resilience of human spirit amid despair and uncertainty.

Dr. Rajpurohit also noted that ten Rajasthani writers from various regions of the state were felicitated during the two-day event. The honorees included Madhu Acharya, Dr. Madan Saini, Dr. Satyanarayan Soni, Dr. Mangat Badal, Dr. Madan Gopal Ladha, Dr. Lakshmikant Vyas, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Vyas, and Dr. Suresh Salvi. Several sessions were conducted on Rajasthani language, literature, and culture, witnessing active participation from prominent Rajasthani poets and literary figures.

A Rajasthani poetry gathering was also organized, where Kota’s young poet Kuldeep Vidyarthi presented his poems.
