Workshop on Life Skills and Mobile Addiction

Udaipur – On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, Rotary Club Yuva, in collaboration with Hindustan Zinc's CSR initiative under the Shiksha Sambal Program, organized a workshop at Government Senior Secondary School, Debari, Udaipur. The objective was to address the growing issue of mobile addiction among school children and create awareness about mental health problems and their solutions.

Club President CA Yash Kunawat shared that the workshop, led by psychiatrist Dr. R.K. Sharma, engaged 300 students from classes 6 to 12, along with 30 B.Ed. students, in an interactive activity. The students were presented with five common scenarios that schoolchildren often face, such as bullying, relationship issues, stress, mobile addiction, and time management. Divided into five groups, the participants were asked to read the scenarios and respond to questions based on these problems. Some questions specifically addressed mobile addiction, helping the children understand both the benefits and drawbacks of mobile usage.

Reflecting on the students' responses, Dr. Sharma introduced them to the concept of life skills, explaining how these skills help manage life's challenges effectively and improve the quality of life. He emphasized the vital role of teachers in imparting life skills and identifying mental health issues early. Teachers, trained by professional counselors, can play a key role in supporting affected students.

The workshop was attended by Hindustan Zinc CSR Head Aruna Cheeta, CSR member Radhika, school principal Dilip Jain, Rotary Club Yuva President Yash Kunawat, Secretary Amit Jain, No to Tobacco Chairperson Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, and Chetas Trust Coordinator Divya Sharma. In conclusion, Aruna Cheeta expressed her commitment to integrating school mental health initiatives into Hindustan Zinc’s Shiksha Sambal Program in the future.
