Vikrant University Gwalior Hosts Kite Festival on Makar Sankranti

Gwalior,  Vikrant University Gwalior celebrated Makar Sankranti with a vibrant Kite Festival. The event commenced with the lighting of lamps and offering of flowers to Goddess Saraswati by the University's Patron, Mrs. Meena Rathore, Treasurer Mrs. Gunjan Rathore, and all female staff members.

In keeping with the rich Indian traditions and cultural heritage, the festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Staff members and their families participated wholeheartedly, infusing the celebration with energy and excitement.

The festival began with a message highlighting the mythological significance of Makar Sankranti. Chancellor, Mr. Rakesh Singh Rathore, emphasized that this festival is an integral part of Indian culture and a moral duty to observe. He noted that Makar Sankranti marks the beginning of the Sun's northward journey, symbolizing unity and prosperity for society.

Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Vikrant Singh Rathore, remarked, “The participation of our staff families in this event infused the festival with enthusiasm. This event not only provides an opportunity to celebrate traditional festivals but also serves as a symbol of our collective efforts and cooperation.”

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Amarika Singh, who was in Delhi, sent virtual greetings to the staff on Makar Sankranti, highlighting the cultural significance of the occasion.

Competitions During the Festival

The festival included various sporting and cultural competitions, with staff and employees eagerly participating. Kite flying, tug-of-war, sitolia, cricket, and music contests were held.

Cricket: Dr. Veer Narayan's team emerged as the winner.

Tug-of-War: Dr. M.D. Jagwinder Kaur's team won in the women's category, while Dr. Veer Narayan's team triumphed in the men's.

Music Competition: Mr. Sharad Gupta showcased exceptional singing.

Best Cooking Award: Rohit Gupta was recognized.

Best Service Award: Taskin Khan was honored.

Best Kite Flying: The Civil Department was awarded for the best kite.

Best Event Management: Jitendra Yadav was commended for his outstanding organizational efforts.

The closing remarks were delivered by Registrar K.D. Pathak, with a vote of thanks by Aishwarya Tomar. The event successfully brought together the Vikrant University family, celebrating Makar Sankranti in a traditional and joyful manner.

The sports competitions were meticulously organized under the guidance of Dr. Kuldeep Singh Jhala, Director of the Sports Board, ensuring smooth execution.

This festival not only united the Vikrant University family culturally but also strengthened the bond among staff members and their families through sports and entertainment.
