Western Central Railway Installs 1000 CCTV Cameras at 29 Stations - Senior DCM Rohit Malviya

Kota: Indian Railways and its public sector unit, RailTel, have installed IP-based CCTV cameras at major railway stations across the country. This project, rapidly expanding with a focus on the safety and security of passengers, especially women and children, has been accelerated by the efforts of the General Manager. As a result, Western Central Railway is swiftly integrating modern technology into passenger facilities, leading to the installation of IP-based CCTV cameras across its three divisions. So far, 999 CCTV cameras have been installed at 29 major railway stations within Western Central Railway. The project aims to extend CCTV coverage to all categories of railway stations in the coming days. Additionally, CCTV cameras are being installed at level crossing gates, with 53 cameras already set up at various gates during the current financial year.

Notably, to enhance security in railway premises, the monitoring of CCTV cameras and video feeds at stations is conducted at three levels. Each railway division has a centralized control room displaying video feeds from the CCTV cameras installed at respective stations. A network management system is also available for monitoring cameras, servers, UPS, and switches, accessible to authorized personnel via any web browser. These CCTV cameras are networked using optical fiber cables, and the video feeds are displayed not only at local RPF posts but also at a centralized CCTV control room at the divisional level, providing additional support to RPF officers in improving security. The video feeds recorded by the CCTV cameras can be stored for 30 days.

In the Kota division, 240 CCTV cameras have been installed at eight major stations, including 65 at Kota station, 40 at Sawai Madhopur station, 30 at Bharatpur station, 25 at Gangapur City station, 20 at Bundi station, 26 at Bhawani Mandi station, 17 at Ramganj Mandi station, and 17 at Hindon City station.
